Noko Mahlachane

Noko Mahlachane is an engineer involved in the design, development and maintenance of electronic instruments at Denel Overberg Test Range. Design and manufacturing of new test equipment is necessary to keep up with the constantly changing world of electronics. The designed test equipment should be reliable and perform according to the client’s specification.

Noko’s advice on becoming an engineer:

Important school subjects:
Mathematics, Physical Science and Computer Science (optional).

Qualifications: A B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (four years) is sufficient for a career as an Electrical Engineer. A master’s degree and a PhD are recommended if one would like to specialise in a particular field.

Best part of the job:
As a young engineer, I find it incredibly rewarding to start a project from the concept phase, watch it come to life and then working as intended. At the Test Range, the electronic field is broad; there is always something to learn every day. The experienced professionals at Denel Overberg Test Range make it an ideal place to learn more about electronics and expand one’s knowledge of different engineering disciplines.
