The key role of the Test Range, as a strategic flight test facility in South Africa, was once again confirmed during the "Show and Tell" event presented to clients and stakeholders from the 31st August to the 1st September 2016 at Denel Overberg Test Range.

Annually organisations with major contracts to deliver products and services to the SANDF and Armscor, host a ‘Show and Tell’ event to showcase their capabilities and new developments to clients and influential stakeholders. This year, the Test Range hosted their eighth “Show and Tell”.

Mr Abrie van der Walt, Chief Executive Officer of Denel Overberg Test Range says “The ‘Show and Tell’ is a highlight in our calendar as it affords us with an opportunity to interact with our stakeholders and provides a valuable platform to showcase the latest developments in our industry.” He also stated that that he is very proud of what is happening at the Test Range and expressed the hope that the delegates will experience the “can do” attitude of the employees at the Test Range.

This year’s occasion was attended by more than 70 guests, including representatives from the Department of Defence (DoD), SANDF, Armscor, Air Force Base Overberg, the defence industry, other state departments, as well as Denel Corporate Office. The first night of the Show and Tell included a networking dinner and a marimba band from Gansbaai provided good entertainment.

Presentations and demonstrations on various aspects of the activities of the Test Range were delivered by enthusiastic Test Range employees. Topics covered include an overview of test support provided during the past two years, upgrading of the tracking radar calibration system, client communication with the central computer, time-based upgrade, range safety calculations, skytrack bus project and the status on the transportable test range.

Major. General Jabu Mbuli, Chief Director: Acquisition Materiel from the Department of Defence, expressed his pride and appreciation in what the Test Range has accomplished during the years and staging an excellent event.
