Grade R learners from the Wagenhuiskrantz Primary School in Arniston received gift vouchers for school uniforms from the German Air Force represented by Captain Udo Milkowski and Chief Master Sergeant
Members of the German Air Force, who conducted a test campaign at Denel Overberg Test Range, opened their hearts to the Arniston community when they donated gift vouchers for school uniforms to the Grade R learners of the Wagenhuiskrantz Primary School.
Denel Overberg Test Range has been assisting the German Air Force during the past few weeks to conduct quality assurance and in-service firings to prove the operational capabilities of their TAURUS air-to-ground missile. The German Air Force also practised close air support and low flying. It was the eighth Taurus campaign to be conducted at the Test Range since 2000.
It has become tradition for the German Air Force members to donate items to the communities where they work worldwide. During a farewell function money was collected from all the members and they were able to hand each of the 30 Grade R learners of the Wagenhuiskrantz Primary School a R625 gift voucher to purchase school uniforms.
On Monday, 14 April 2014, Captain Udo Milkowski and Chief Master Sergeant Stephan Wilms from the German Air Force handed over the gift vouchers as well as cupcakes and cold drinks to the learners.
The children were overwhelmed by this generosity and were impressed to receive a visit from the two German Air Force officers in their uniforms.
