Denel Overberg Test Range excelled at the first Group CEO Awards Ceremony held in Centurion on Friday, 6 February 2015. Although the Test Range is the smallest division in the Denel Group, the employees received two of the six awards. The awards recognised extraordinary achievements of employees who display the Denel values of Performance, Integrity, Innovation, Caring and Accountability – PIICA. This gala event was attended by the nominees and their partners, Denel Board Members, Executive Management and other stakeholders. The Test Range was nominated for the Munitions Performance Award (Umkhonto Test Team), Umkhonto Integrity Award (Jerome Lakey), Airbus Innovation Award (Command Destruct Refurbishment Team), Casspir Caring Award (Garden Service Team - Erens Eksteen and George Murtz), G6 Accountability Award (Andrew Lawrence) and Rooivalk GCEO Excellence Award (Die Herberg Team). After much anticipation the winners were announced. The Command Destruct Refurbishment Team of The Test Range received the Airbus Innovation Award for the team’s ingenuity which led to the design and manufacturing of a new set of power amplifiers to replace the obsolete out-dated power amplification technology which is normally imported and extremely expensive. Andrew Lawrence jointly with Ayanda Mkatini (from Denel Corporate Office) received the G6 Accountability Award for displaying strength of character and accountability by effectively coping with two positions without any previous training or experience. These achievements once again prove that although the Test Range is a small division, the personnel is one of the biggest assets of The Test Range. The innovative creativeness with which tasks are completed and the commitment to service ensure that they are able to compete with the best. “I am extremely proud of the Test Range personnel and their achievements,” said Abrie van der Walt, CEO of Denel Overberg Test Range.
