A group of local emerging businesses enrolled in the “Strategy for Emerging Enterprises Programme (SeeP)” sponsored by Denel Overberg Test Range, attended the first training workshop held at The Dunes at Arniston from 31 March to 3 April 2016.

During October 2015 the Test Range partnered with the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, to host an Emerging Business Support workshop in Bredasdorp. The 2-day workshop was presented by Lathitha Ingomso Lethu on behalf of the University of the Western Cape. The workshop was well received by the participants and the need for a more comprehensive programme was identified to assist business owners in becoming sustainable.

After discussions with Mr Lungisa Dyasi, business owner of Lathitha Ingomso Lethu, a programme was customised to complement the needs of the enterprise and supplier development beneficiaries of the Test Range. Subsequently, the Test Range accepted his proposal to implement a “Strategy for Emerging Enterprises Programme (SeeP)” which focused exclusively on enterprise and supplier development (ESD) beneficiaries as nominated by the Test Range.

This workshop held at The Dunes at Arniston was successful and apart from the direct benefit to the beneficiaries, the outcome of the programme will also assist the Test Range in structuring its future ESD programme(s) and support to ESD beneficiaries.

Ms Samantha Berry from Denel Overberg Test Range and coordinator of the event, mentioned that the training was a huge success and that positive feedback was received from the delegates. She indicated that business owners have expressed their gratitude to the Test Range for showing interest in assisting their businesses through these development initiatives.
